CHANNAHON -- One northbound lane has been reopened after a series of crashes Monday morning near Channahon.
State police said there were five separate crashes starting at about 8 a.m. Three semitrailers were involved in the accidents, along with several passenger vehicles.
The accidents occurred between between Bluff Road and U.S. Route 6 in the northbound lanes. All northbound lanes were shut down at one point.
No one was killed in the accidents, police said. Information on injuries was not available.
One car was crushed between a semitrailer and the upright stand of an overhead highway sign, according to an eyewitness account.
State police advised using the following alternative routes if traveling north.
Take Exit 241 at River Road to State Route 53 north to Interstate 80. Or, take Exit 220 at State Route 47 north to I-80.
