Benefit for Dwight man set for Saturday
A benefit is set for this weekend to raise funds to support a local family in need after suffering from an accident.
Join friends and family from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday to support Dwight resident Kris Olson.
The benefit will be at Gardner American Legion Hall and the dinner will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each, which includes live entertainment, a meal and a chance to win $1,000. Although, the winner need not be present, attendees must be age 21 or older to enter.
All proceeds from this event will go directly to Olson to assist in medical fees, therapy charges and mechanical needs.
Olson lives south of Dwight, outside of Emington. He and his wife Lena live on a farm where they raise and show Clydesdales and Dobermans. On Sept. 10, Olson was involved in a serious accident when his ATV collided with a car while in route to a hay field. He already has endured more than a dozen surgeries and faces more challenges before he is able to walk again.
Tickets are available at Roadrunner’s Family Restaurant in Emington, Grundy County Farm Bureau in Morris, Illinois Truck and Equipment, The Greenhorn and other establishments in the Grundy and Livingston County area.
Those interested also can contact Nick Stipanovich at 815-791-9300 or Jason Bunting at 815-252-5520 for ticket information.
Olson is a veteran who served in the U.S. Marines from 1982 until 2003, serving during Desert Storm and Kuwait. Following the end of his active duty, he became a member of the Air Force Reserve with multiple deployments to Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan before his full military retirement in 2012. Along with his time in the Air Force Reserve, Olson has worked for Illinois Truck & Equipment in Morris since 2003 as a Local 150 heavy equipment mechanic.
Community members can support this event through donations, sponsorships and ticket purchases. All proceeds from this benefit will go directly to Kris and Lena Olson to assist with the many medical bills and other expenses.
