Reed-Custer wins Class 2A Regional
The Reed-Custer boys basketball team won the Class 2A Wilmington Regional on Friday, knocking off Beecher, 92-63.
Travis Schoonover led the Comets with 22 points while Brent Headrick added 14, Tyler Allen 13, Logan Zavala 12 and Tyler Foote 11.
Reed-Custer previously finished the regular season with a 75-73 win over Seneca in a game in which Allen paced the Comets with 18 points. For Seneca in that game, Alex Bott and Carter Gallick had 15 points each.
Coal City 33
Coal City lost its regular season finale to the Tigers with Nick Peters leading the Coalers with 14 points.
Earlier in a game against Plano, Coal City won 72-58 behind 13 points by Nick Micetich and 12 points from Peters.
St. Anne 71,
In the Class 1A Gardner-South Wilmington Regional championship, Dwight lost to the Cardinals by three.
For Dwight, Caleb Boma led with 19 points while Triston Dircks added 12 and Drew Travers 10 in the loss.
Jeff Taylor led St. Anne with 28 points while Rickey Taylor added 19 and Octavious Davis 18.
Earlier Dwight had defeated St. Francis De Sales 69-56 behind 15 points from Dircks and 14 from Boma.
Dwight finished the regular season with a 52-46 win over Sandwich – a game in which Dircks had 15 points.

Families of Faith 69
Families of Faith lost in the South Shore Conference championship despite 31 points and 15 rebounds from Josiah Blan. Cody Blan added 23 points.
Earlier Josiah Blan scored the 2,000th point of his career in an 86-65 win over Christian Haven. He had 31 points and 19 rebounds in that game.
INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Minooka at Normal West Invitational
The Minooka track team opened up with some noteable performances Thursday at the Normal West Invitational, having set two MCHS indoor records in the process.
No team scores were kept.
Devin Ingram won the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.19 – which is one of the new marks. Shabari Bailey was third in the 60 meter high hurdles with a time of 8.23, which is also a new school record.
Also placing for the Indians were: Bobby Kaluza in the 60 high hurtles (fourth/8.62); Brock Whalen in the shot put (second/14-8.62) and Peter Andreano in the high jump (2nd/15-6.4).
At the frosh-soph level, the 4x800 relay team was second and the 4x200 relay team was third.
“I was very proud of the effort and leadership displayed in our opening meet,” Minooka coach Nick Lundin said. “I think our guys did a fantastic job starting the year strong.”
Saratoga def. Wilmington,
Marissa Aguilar had two aces, a kill and three blocks for the Lady Hawks while Gracie Wargo added two kills and four blocks and Ashley Hood four kills, one block and two aces.
MVK def. Grand Ridge,
25-18, 16-25, 25-14,
Sara Cahill had 16 points, including 10 aces and six kills while Alexa Novy added seven points and five aces.
In the seventh grade match, MVK won 25-17, 25-14 behind eight points and four aces from Madison Tondini. Lauren Dooley also had five aces.
In the sixth grade match, MVK won 18-25, 25-21, 15-9 behind Cassidy Draves 12 points and seven aces.

Coal City got six points and four digs from Megan Lacy in the loss.
