Grundy County Speedway opens its 44th season

MORRIS – Stock Car Racing action in four divisions kicks off Friday with a 44-lap main event for the Illinois Truck & Equipment Super Late models.

The area’s only one-third paved oval will celebrate 44 years at the Morris fairgrounds speed plant facility. The Speedway is at 8890 N. Route 47, at the Grundy County Fairgrounds. The McMahon Transport Group Mid American Sportsman, Street Stocks and Four Cylinder divisions will highlight the opening night’s extravaganza.

The 2014 schedule includes many special events, such as the of the popular Grundy Old-Timer’s Reunion featuring the Illinois Vintage Stock Car Series, fan favorites ARCA Midwest Tour Wayne Carter Classic, the Magnabosco Classic, Kids Night and Fan Autograph Party.

Also on the calendar is the Stock Car Full Program plus Lockport/New Lenox two-for-one admission May 2; Stock Car Full Program plus Twin Four Cylinder Mains /Spectator Drags on May 9; and Stock Car racing every Friday through Labor Day.
