MORRIS – The United Way of Grundy County is once again sponsoring a book drive for the annual Grundy County Back to School Fair.
Last year, the book drive yielded over 1,000 books that were distributed to low-income families in Grundy County. Every year from April through early July, book collection boxes are placed in various locations throughout Grundy County with easy access for individuals to donate new or gently used preschool through high school-aged books.
Book drive drop-off locations are Coal City Early Childhood Center, 755 S. Carbon Hill Road, Coal City; First Midwest Bank, 220 W. Main St., Morris; Centrue Bank/Grundy Chamber, 660 S. Broadway St., Coal City; Heartland Bank/Channahon Minooka Chamber, 505 Bob Blair Road, Minooka; Grundy County Chamber of Commerce, 909 Liberty St., Morris; Grundy County Administrative Building, 1320 Union St., Morris; Minooka Village Hall, 121 E. McEvilly Road, Minooka; Standard Bank, 1111 W. Route 6, Morris; and the United Way of Grundy County, 1802 N. Division St., Suite 500, Morris.
Accepted books include chapter books, hardcover and paperback books in both English and Spanish.
The Grundy County Back to School Fair provides necessary supplies and services (at no charge) to low-income families with school-age children in Grundy County. Operation St. Nick and We Care of Grundy County have a long tradition of providing school supplies to schoolchildren in Grundy County. The Back to School Fair also will feature accessibility to much-needed services, in addition to other resources available in the community .
