CHANNAHON - A New York man was arrested in Channahon Tuesday as part of an online child pornography sting.

Suresh M. Manjanath, 45, of Tarrytown, met with an undercover investigator posing as the mother of two young children at a local restaurant, Police Chief Jeff Wold said.

Manjanath solicited lewd sex acts from the investigator and was also distributing child pornography online, Wold said. The investigation was conducted by Channahon police and the Illinois Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, where one Channahon officer is assigned.

"The Task Force is a great example of how multiple law enforcement agencies work together to help protect society from heinous individuals that victimize children," Wold said.

Manjanath has been charged with dissemination of child pornography and faces up to 30 years in prison.
