AutoZone donates to We Care of Grundy County
AutoZone recently donated $1,000 to We Care of Grundy County in celebration of the franchise’s 35th anniversary.
AutoZone asked store managers in each of its 50 regions in the United States to nominate their favorite community-based nonprofit organization for a chance to receive a $1,000 donation from the corporation.
Bob Borgetti, store manager of AutoZone in Morris, nominated We Care.
“I’ve noticed the many ways in which We Care assists people in need in our area, and was especially impressed by the organization’s efforts during the flood and tornado last year," he said in a news release. "I’m just happy that we had a chance to make a significant contribution that helps an organization that does so much for so many in our area.”
AutoZone has more than 5,200 stores in 49 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Brazil.
Priority for awarding the grants was placed on organizations that address education, youth development, military support, public safety, and health and wellness.
“We Care is very honored and grateful to be chosen to receive this grant, especially when there were so many deserving organizations competing for the award,” We Care’s Denise Gaska said in the release. “We Care is also celebrating the 35th anniversary of our incorporation this year on [Thursday]. Just as AutoZone has grown over the years, We Care has, too. We owe our growth and ability to provide aid to so many in a variety of programs to the generous support of Grundy County residents and community partners like AutoZone.”
We Care, a United Way agency, provides emergency assistance to Grundy County residents in the form of food, rent, utility and prescription assistance. It is at 520 W. Illinois Ave. in Morris. For information, visit www.wecareofgrundy.com.
