Free Community Shred Day to be held

Published: Thursday, June 12, 2014 8:40 p.m. CST

MORRIS – The Morris Building & Loan is preparing for its seventh annual free Community Shred Day to be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

It will be held in the Morris Building & Loan parking lot, 211 E. Jefferson St. in Morris. Community members are encouraged to bring boxes of papers to be shredded in a large on-site destruction truck right before their eyes. Although this event is free, Morris Building & Loan is requesting that community members give a monetary donation toward the Morris Rotary Kids Food Back Pack Program.

“Every year, Americans lose billions of dollars to fraud. The Morris Building & Loan is trying to do their part by informing the community how to take action and protect themselves,” Kim Brown, vice president and branch manager, said in a news release. “Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the U.S., and it’s time we all learned to protect ourselves.”

For information on this free event, call 815-942-3232.
