Car wash set Saturday for Redskins Marching Band

MORRIS – A car wash will be Saturday at First National Bank to benefit the Morris Redskin Marching Band.

The car wash will be from noon to 3 p.m. at First National Bank, 1771 N. Division in Morris. The bank is hosting the car wash to help the Morris Redskin Marching Band raise money to purchase new band uniforms. 

Library sponsors chicken, pork chop barbecue

NEWARK – The Friends of the Charles B. Phillips Public Library invites the public to the annual chicken and pork chop dinner on July 4 at the Newark Fire Department.

The dinner will take place immediately after the Independence Day Parade, at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fire department is located at the corner of Main and Jackson streets in Newark.

Tickets are $10 for a quarter of a chicken or pork chop, and $11 for half a chicken or two pork chops. A combination plate of one chop and a quarter chicken for $11 also is available. Ticket price includes sides and a beverage. The Friends of the Library also will host a bake sale at the dinner.

To buy tickets in advance, contact any Friends of the Library member, visit the library or Heartland Bank & Trust Newark and Millbrook locations.

Bereavement Support Group meets Tuesday

MORRIS – The Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice reminds the community the Adult Bereavement Support Group meets on the second Tuesday of each month.

The group meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the hospice office, 518 W. Illinois Ave. in Morris. For information, call 815-942-8525.
