Published: Friday, June 20, 2014 8:49 p.m. CST

WILMINGTON – Did you know that Midewin is home to many unique birds that are hard to find in other places?

June 28 is the next Midewin for Kids Program – “Bird Nerds.” Bird guides and binoculars will be provided, and kids will be taken on a prairie expedition. Upon their return they will make their own mason jar bird feeder to attract these winged wonders to their own yard.

This free program will begin at 10 a.m. at the Welcome Center, Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, 30239 S. Route 53, Wilmington. Arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow enough time to check in.

Reservations are required by Friday. Reservations can be made by calling 815-423-6370 or email Midewin_RSVP@fs.fed.us. Include contact information, in the event Midewin needs to notify you of any cancellations or changes to the program.
