Liberty Days schedule of events

Runners participate in one the 5Ks during Liberty Days in Morris. Liberty Days begins this Thursday.

The following are some of the events that will be held at this year's Liberty Days. For more information visit www.downtownmorris.com/liberty-days/

Thursday

• 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Train Rides, boarding at the Grundy County Courthouse - $3 will benefit the Christian Youth Center of Morris. Also offered Friday and Saturday.

• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Grundy County Historical Society, 510 W. Illinois Ave. Visit this historic building and check out an exhibit about the 55th Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Also offered Friday and Saturday.

• 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. – Steak Fry, corner of Washington and Franklin. Sponsored by Century21 Coleman-Hornsby to benefit Special Connections of Grundy County.

• 2 p.m. – Paws to Read Morris Area Public Library, 604 Liberty St. Big Run Wolf Ranch will visit the library with live animals.

• 6:05 p.m. – Bone-ifide Pet Parade, Liberty and Main Streets to the Grundy County Courthouse. Call 815-791-3639 for information.

• 6:30 p.m. – River Road, Courthouse lawn, to hear members of the Clients Band. Rain location is Living Water Church of the Nazarene, 118 W. Jefferson.

Friday

• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Inflatables, Grundy County Courthouse Lawn.

• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Children’s activities with “Giggles the Clown” and Patriots 4 Heroes, Grundy County Courthouse lawn.

• 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. – Grundy Bank brown bag lunch, Grundy County Courthouse lawn. Featuring Marvin Minerich.

• 1:30 to 4 p.m. – Ice Cream Social, Grundy Bank Courtyard.

• 5 to 6 p.m. – Got Soul Jazz Quartet, Courthouse lawn – featuring musicians from First Presbyterian Church.

• 5 to 8 p.m – Liberty 5K Run/Walk Pre-Race Deadline Party – Ebbey George’s Sports Bar and Grill, Liberty and Jefferson streets. Sign up for the 5K or register in advance at raceroster.com/events/2014/1773/liberty-5k-runwalk

• 6:30 p.m. – The Names will perform music, Courthouse lawn. Rain location is at Living Water Church of the Nazarene, 118 W. Jefferson.

Saturday

• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Junk in the Trunk. Washington and Franklin streets. Check out antiques, crafts, household items, art and more. A 10-foot space is $10. Contact Ken at 815-942-2032 or willis824@comcast.net.

• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Liberty Days Art’s Festival, Courthouse lawn.

• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – President and Mrs. Lincoln, Courthouse lawn. The Lincolns will visit the Grundy County Historical Society Museum from noon to 1 p.m.

• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Children’s activities with Patriots 4 Heroes and “Giggles the Clown,” Courthouse lawn.

• 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. – Carriage Rides, boarding at the Courthouse and Grundy County Historical Society Museum.

• 11 to 11:20 a.m. – Selections from "Xanadu," Courthouse lawn. Performers from the Morris Theatre Guild will present selections from their upcoming musical, "Xanadu."

• Noon to 12:40 p.m. – Selections from "Rent," Courthouse lawn. Enjoy musical selections from Small Town Theatrics' summer musical production of "Rent."

• 1 to 4 p.m. – Touch A Truck, Franklin Street, between Illinois Avenue and Washington Street.

• 1:30 to 3 p.m. – Abraham Lincoln in Song, Grundy County Courthouse.

• 4 to 5:30 p.m. – Morris Area Community Band, Courthouse lawn. Rain location, Living Water Church of the Nazarene, 118 W. Jefferson.

• 5 to 9 p.m. – Liberty Days Cruise In. West Sheriff’s Lot, Illinois Ave.

• 6:25 p.m. – Drawing for Downtown Retailers Gift Certificates, Courthouse lawn.

• 6:30 p.m. – The Janglers, Courthouse lawn. Rain location is Living Water Church of the Nazarene - 118 W. Jefferson.

Sunday

• 6:30 p.m., Air National Guard Band of the Midwest, Grundy County Courthouse lawn. Rain location, Living Water Church of the Nazarene, 118 W. Jefferson.
