MORRIS – The body of a woman missing since Sunday in the Illinois River near Morris has been recovered.

Morris Fire Protection & Ambulance District, along with water rescue personnel from the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Division 15, located the body of Emily A. Hendricks, 24, of Wheaton on Wednesday, according to the Grundy County Coroner's office.

Hendricks was found at approximately 12:35 p.m. Wednesday on the Illinois River between Morris and Seneca near Grist Island Head.

Hendricks was one of four people on a Bayliner pleasure craft that became lodged at 3:27 p.m. Sunday in the Dresden Dam just east of Morris on the Illinois River.

The Coal City Fire Department rescued one person from the boat, and two others were rescued from the water by another pleasure craft; all were transported to Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers by ambulance, according to authorities. They were treated and later released.

Crews have been searching for Hendricks since Sunday, with searches done every day since the accident happened.

The Grundy County Coroner’s Office along with Illinois Department of Natural Resources is investigating the death. Examination is set to take place Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the coroner's office. Several area departments have assisted in the water recovery.
