COAL CITY – About 180 area families took part in We Care of Grundy County’s mobile food pantry on June 11 sponsored by Geo’s Pizza and Reeves Funeral Home at Diamond Banquet Hall.

With 7,071 pounds of food delivered, each household received about 40 pounds of food, including 12 pounds of frozen meat and a variety of items like barbecue sauce, pies, frozen yogurt, salad, sliced apples, cereal and bread.

The next mobile food pantry is sponsored by Kay Olson and is scheduled for Wednesday at the Mazon City Park. Registration will begin at 3:45 p.m. and distribution at 5 p.m.

Any family that resides in Grundy County and is in need of assistance with food is welcome to come. Attendees are asked to provide proof of residency either with a valid drivers’ license, state ID or utility bill with their current Grundy County address.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to bring a container to carry items. For information, call 815-942-6389.
