MORRIS -- Officials will be holding a press conference in minutes to update the public on the latest in storm damage across Morris and neighboring areas.

Winds were recorded at 65 mph as of about 10 p.m. last night, said Grundy County EMA Director Joe Schroeder Tuesday morning. Carbon Hill and Coal City had winds at 70 mph, and in some cases over.

Schroeder estimates 75 to 80 percent of Morris is still out of power.

No major injuries have been reported, Schroeder said.

Morris Hospital was put on bypass Monday night due to the power outage, but was back up and running as of 7 a.m. Tuesday, Chief Tracey Steffes of the Morris Fire Protection & Ambulance District.
