Diabetes Support

Group meets Tuesday

MORRIS – The Diabetes Education Center at Morris Hospital will host its monthly Diabetes Support Group from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Family Birthing Suites classroom at Morris Hospital, 150 W. High St. in Morris.

This interactive support group provides individuals with diabetes and their family members an opportunity to support one another and gain new perspectives in diabetes self-management.

On July 22, a pre-diabetes education class will be offered from 2 to 4 p.m. in Whitman Assembly Room 1 at the hospital. Participants will learn how early treatment, healthful eating and physical activity can help manage pre-diabetes, a condition characterized by blood sugar levels that are higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be classified as Type 2 diabetes. Without intervention, pre-diabetes is likely to become Type 2 diabetes in 10 years or less.

Both programs are free. Registration is not required. For information, call 815-705-7367.
