MINOOKA – Local residents interested in becoming certified to apply for a concealed carry license are invited to sign-up for training classes being offered Aug. 23 and 24.
The classes are sponsored by state Rep. John Anthony, R-Plainfield, and taught by Brian McNichols, a federally licensed firearms dealer with more than 15 years of firearms experience including United States Marine Corps service as a marksmanship instructor and a NRA certified pistol instructor.
Class size is limited to 15 people, so those interested are encouraged to sign up early by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org. Class time will be divided into three blocks and each block is four hours long. The range time also will consist of one four-hour block. These blocks will equal the required 16 hours of training, according to a news release from Anthony's office.
“We want to help connect residents interested in obtaining their CCL with a qualified local instructor to complete the necessary hours of training,” Anthony said in the release. “We are grateful to Brian McNichols for his willingness to provide the training and look forward to a successful class.”
The CCL classes will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 23 and Aug. 24 at a training site in Minooka. Exact address will be provided to those who sign up. Cost varies based on the number of training hours an applicant needs to complete.
The cost to obtain a CCL is $150 for five years for Illinois residents. For questions or information, call Rep. Anthony’s office at 815-416-1475 or visit www.mmiguns.com.
