Roundup: Eighth-grade Minooka girls softball notches win

Minooka’s eighth-grade girls softball team got into the win column Thursday night with an 8-4 victory over Wilmington.

Hannah Justak and Cierra Bachmann each had two hits to lead the Indians, while Maggie Joutras, Katie Spillie and Amber Zilinger each had a hit. Katie Spillie pitched six innings for the win, with Allie Vandrgrift pitching one scoreless inning for the save.

GRADE SCHOOL SOFTBALL

MVK ‘B’ 17, Gardner-South Wilmington 2 (3 innings): After the ‘A’ softball team beat Gardner-South Wilmington, 16-6, on Thursday, the Mazon-Verona-Kinsman ‘B’ team completed the sweep.  Destiney Clark got the win, allowing one hit and striking out four. Mallory Othon was 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles.
