State: 2 cases of Legionnaires' Disease in McHenry County

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois Department of Public Health says two people who used a hot tub at a hotel in McHenry County have been diagnosed with Legionnaires' Disease. Both people used the hot tub at the Hampton Inn in McHenry on the same day at the end of May. Both have been hospitalized. The disease is caused by an organism that occurs naturally in water. Symptoms include headaches, loss of appetite, aches, pains, fever and coughing. The agency says a department inspector, along with the McHenry County Health Department, conducted a preliminary investigation of the hotel's swimming pool and spa. The inspector collected water samples. Officials say they're working with the hotel to contact everyone who stayed there since May 9th.
