Aging Agency proposes funding for county

LOCKPORT -- The Northeastern Illinois Area Agency on Aging has proposed $323,626 in Grundy County funding for the 2010 fiscal year.

A public hearing on funding for Grundy County will be held Friday, May 22, at 10 a.m. at the Gladys Fox Museum, 231 E. Ninth St., Lockport.

Proposed funding includes home-delivered meals, $101,527; ARRA home-delivered meals, $3,830; congregate meals, $33,842; ARRA congregate meals, $3,830; nutrition program commodities, $22,151; CCU access services, $60,577; flexible community services, $3,839; legal services, $13,251; counseling, $23,348; residential repair, $1,078; and home injury control, $1,735.

Also, medication management, $1,735; elder abuse intervention training, $263; elder abuse team, $3,000; caregiver resource center, $19,239; caregiver counseling center, $5,747; pharmaceutical assistance outreach, $10,476 and long-term care ombudsman, $10,208.

Funding for the fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1, 2009, comes from the federal government through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Older Americans Act, as well as state funds.

Allocations could change based on testimony given at the public hearing, at the request of the county's service providers or on the recommendation of the agency's advisory council or planning committee.

Any changes in federal or state funding will also impact the allocations.
