Walter G. Jornlin

SANDWICH — Mr. Walter G. Jornlin, 74, of Sandwich, passed away on May 25, 2009, at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich.

Born Oct. 18, 1934, in Aurora, he was the son of Clayton and Susanna (Arend) Jornlin.

Walter was united in marriage on May 8, 1982, to the former Marjorie Newkirk. They spent 27 happy years of their lives together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Jornlin was employed as the Head Shipping Clerk by AT&T in Montgomery, Ill., until his retirement. Walter was a former E.M.T. and Civil Defense Volunteer in Morris. He was a former member of the Batavia Moose Lodge and a member of the Sandwich Moose Lodge.

Walter enjoyed several hobbies, including traveling with his wife, Marjorie, boating, motorcycling and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Jornlin of Sandwich; his children, Steven (Reta) Jornlin of Mazon and Connie (John Hamilton) Compton of Ransom; his step-sons, Scott (Kim) Killey of Plano and Stephen (Anita) Killey of Sandwich; his grandchildren, Casie Dennis of Wenona, Kristen (Ryan) Goldsmith of Plano, Derek (fiancée, Carrie Gillette) Killey of Sandwich,  Rebecca Killey and Ryan Killey, both of Plano; his great-grandchildren, Jonna Rae and Jordan Dennis, Devon Arwood, Payton and Madison Goldsmith and Hailie Killey; his sister, Anna Marie (Martin) Andersen of Lena, Ill.; as well as three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Susanna Jornlin; his son, Scot Jornlin; and his step-daughter, Jan Maria Killey.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 W. South St., Plano. Interment will follow at the Little Rock Township Cemetery, Plano.

Friends may visit from 11 a.m until the hour of service on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, Plano.
