
COLLEGE CORNER: Morris student earns master’s degree from Olivet NazareneLauren Ann Watson of Morris received her master’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday, May 9, 2009. Her major field of study was reading. Watson previously graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2004, with a degree in elementary education. She had a 4.0 G.P.A. and is planning on pursuing a job in the future as a reading specialist. She is the daughter of Ken and Sue Watson of Morris. Andrea Joy Steele was honored at the recent graduation ceremony at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Steele was named one of the top five seniors in the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences, and the outstanding senior in Agricultural Leadership Education. She is a James Scholar, was named to the University’s Senior 100 Honorary, received the Illinois Leadership Certificate and the Student Advancement Committee Loyalty award. She was a member of the U of I 2008 Homecoming Court. A graduate of Milton Pope School and Seneca High School, Steele is the daughter of Jim and Gail Steele of Stavanger, and the granddaughter of Jim and Rene Steele of Seneca, and Robert and Mary Ann Jackson of Stavanger. Steele will enter law school at Washington University in St. Louis this fall. Kyle Hanson of Morris, son of Richard and Deborah Hanson, has been accepted as a first-year student for the fall semester at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. beginning in September, 2009. Kyle is a graduate of Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy and participated in Exodus Student tutoring Program, Total Applied Entrepreneur Program, One Laptop Per Child Program and golf. Anna Alysse Hainzinger of Morris made the 2009 winter quarter dean’s list at Seattle Pacific University. Students on the dean’s list have completed at least 12 credits and attained a 3.50 or higher grade point average. Founded in 1891, Seattle Pacific University is a premier Christian university that serves more than 3,800 undergraduate and graduate students. |
