Two charged for misleading police about man's identity

BOTH OCCUPANTS of a vehicle stopped on northbound Interstate 55 were charged with obstructing police about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 16.

Steven Kaminskas, 42, Bensenville, was charged with felony obstructing for giving a deputy false names, knowing there were warrants for his arrest.

Kaminskas is wanted in DuPage County on a no bond warrant for aggravated DUI and in Will County for failure to appear on a DUI charge with bond set at $10,000.
He was also ticketed for illegal transportation of open liquor.

Jason VanAllen, 37, Lockport, was charged with misdemeanor obstructing for helping Kaminskas give false names. He posted $100 bond and was given a July 6 court date.

Deputy Brett Black reported he saw a Saturn driven by VanAllen fail to stop at Kankakee Road and Illinois 129.

After stopping the car on Interstate 55, the deputy reported an open cooler containing cans of beer was visible in the vehicle.

The deputy reported the passenger, Kaminskas, gave a false name and said his driver's license was from Missouri. There was no record on file for that name in either Illinois or Missouri.

After questioning, Kaminskas admitted he had given a false name, then gave another false name. However, the dispatcher was able to determine his true identification.

An open can of beer was found behind the driver's seat and Kaminskas admitted it was his.
