A big 'thank you' to locals

Comments (...)

On June 24, 2009 our motorcycle broke down on the corner of 47 and Pine Bluff Road. It was around 10:00 AM and the temperatures were in the high 90’s.

We were gratified at the kind outpouring of concern for our well-being. We had called a towing company through a long distance insurance service and had to stay with the bike.

We were outside for several hours and the wrecker service (outside of the Morris area) never came. Unfortunately, we did not get the name of everyone who helped.

We did meet Flo of Pine Bluff Rd. who brought use water twice, called agencies for help and provided hugs, Bill (retired fireman) who provided water and offered to take us home and sheriff deputies who checked with us several times and offered to contact a local towing service in addition to several others who brought us cups of ice and water without wanting any compensation.

We especially want to thank Terry and Pat Svetlecich who trailored our bike to their house, made us feel like part of the family, and took us home 200 miles one way, as well as Ray who helped load the bike.

We were also introduced to a wonderful group of classic car lovers who meet at the Burger King each Wednesday night for a car show organized by friendly and welcoming manager, Ellen.

You should be proud of the spirit within your community. Christian love was alive that day.
