The Gift of Mobility
Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers has a new bus in its patient transportation fleet, thanks to the Morris Hospital Auxiliary. At a cost of $48,465, the bus was purchased with proceeds from the Auxiliary’s 2008 Golf Outing and Bridge/Euchre Tournaments. With seating for 10 passengers and wheelchair accessibility, the new bus replaces the oldest vehicle in Morris Hospital’s patient transportation fleet. That makes six specially equipped shuttle buses to accommodate the more than 8,000 annual requests for free transportation. “Most of us take for granted the ability to get to and from the doctor’s office, yet there are many community residents who don’t drive or have access to a vehicle,” says Tina Carter, Manager of Patient Transportation. “Our buses put on a lot of miles and eventually need to be replaced. We truly appreciate the Morris Hospital Auxiliary’s commitment and support toward this important community service.” Now in its 11th year, Morris Hospital’s Patient Transportation Services has helped residents from more than 18 communities get to and from hospital and other medical related appointments more than 58,000 times since 1998. For the riders, the service is absolutely free. The newest bus is detailed with lettering that acknowledges the bus was funded with proceeds from the Auxiliary’s golf outing. “The Auxiliary wants the community to know that the bus is a direct result of the golf outing,” says Jane Tesdall, Auxiliary Manager at Morris Hospital. “Every business and individual who supported last year’s golf outing helped make this possible.” Comments

![]() Lincecum, Greinke win Cy Young awardsZack Greinke justly won the American League Cy Young award earlier this week. I'm not so sure Tim Lincecum of San Francisco deserved his second straight win in the NL, which he received today. |
