Born Aug. 1, 1926, in Chicago, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Frances (Daugherty) DiJohn. She went to school in Morris, graduating from St. Angela’s Academy and Morris High School.

After graduation, she went to work for the Chicago railroad until her engagement and marriage to M/Sgt. William T. Warren on March 2, 1946. She spent the next 18 years traveling with her husband, who was in the U.S. Air Force. Upon his retirement, she became the first woman ever elected to a city office when she was elected city clerk in 1967 — a job she loved until her retirement in 1988.

She is survived by her seven children, Douglas (Myrna) Warren, Deborah Coil, Melissa (Ed) Keating of Atlanta, Ga., Beverly (Mark) Perry, Wendy Warren, Melinda Schauer, all of Morris, and Barbara (Jim) Watson of Danville, Ky.
