Ruth Mickelson-Truty

OTTAWA — Mrs. Ruth Mickelson-Truty, 83, of Ottawa, died, Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at Ottawa Pavilion.

Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 4, 2009, at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be at West Lisbon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ottawa Funeral Home.

Ruth was born Aug. 5, 1925, in Marseilles. She was the daughter of Arthur and Bredia (Johnson) Pierson. She married Kenneth Mickelson Aug. 19, 1947, in Sheridan. He died Jan. 29, 1985. She then married William M. Truty on Oct. 6, 1995. He died Oct. 15, 2004.

She was a missionary in Africa with her first husband. She was a member of St. Columba Church in Ottawa and Peace Lutheran Church in Morris.

She is survived by two step-sons, Mark (Karen) Truty of Ottawa and William (Constance) Truty of Mendota; six grandchildren, Erin, William ”Skip,” Bob, Mark II, Andrew and Melissa.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Everett and Wendell; and two sisters, Gladys Peterson and Beatrice Shelton.
