Avis Elaine Koelle

Mrs. Avis Elaine Koelle, 82, of Morris, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at Morris Community Hospital.
Born June 9, 1927, Avis was the daughter of Emma and Henry Solomon in Burbank, S.D., where she spent her childhood. As a young woman, Avis spent many years living in Denver, Colo., were she was employed by The Atomic Energy Commission. She then moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she met and married Wayne G. Koelle in March 1958. They settled in Des Moines and raised a family.
In 1983, Avis relocated to Chattanooga, Tenn., with her husband and now grown children. She remained in Chattanooga doing secretarial work until her retirement in 2005, at which time she moved to Morris.
Avis had many job titles in her lifetime, from bartender to secretary. Her most important however, was the job of mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Christopher Henry (Karen Humphries) Koelle ,Chattanooga; Douglas Gran (Becky Hibner) Koelle, Morris; three grandchildren, Christian Carl Koelle, Chattanooga; Katrina Elaine Koelle, Mesa, Ariz; and Christopher Reynolds Koelle, Morris; as well as a beloved cousin, Andy Solomon, Van Nuys, Calif.
Avis was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Wayne G. Koelle; parents, Emma and Henry Solomon, and beloved cousins, Charles, Wilfred and Barwin Solomon.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Harold McClure officiating. Inurnment will be at 10 a.m. Monday Sept. 28, in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
