Labor of LoveMARSEILLES – Exelon Nuclear’s La Salle Gen-erating Station will participate today, Saturday, Oct. 3, in the 18th annual Labor of Love by the United Way of Eastern La Salle County. The station has donated $15,000 to Labor of Love. More than 100 volunteers, including employees, their families and 20 students from Seneca Township High School, will represent the station at the event. “La Salle Station continues to make a positive impact in our local communities and with this long-standing event,” Shelli Ocepek, United Way of Eastern La Salle County’s executive director, said. “Year after year, their heart-warming generosity and exemplary volunteer efforts inspire hope and provide opportunities for a better life for many struggling individuals and families in our area.” Labor of Love is a one-day home improvement blitz. Hundreds of volunteers use donated materials to paint, clean and repair the homes of elderly, disabled and low-income homeowners. Labor of Love assistance is available to homeowners in Dayton, Grand Ridge, Harding, Leland, Marseilles, Naplate, Ottawa, Seneca, Serena, Sheridan and Wedron. “Our employees are extremely excited to participate in Labor of Love again this year,” Dave Wozniak, La Salle Station site vice president, said. “La Salle Station employees understand the value of volunteering in the local community and making it a better place to live. “Labor of Love is just another way we demonstrate that commitment.” More than 500 volunteers are ready to repair and rehabilitate 37 homes. Exelon Nuclear em-ployees Dave Hatz, Verona; Sabah Shams, Marseilles; Jim Arnould, Sam Harmon, and Mike Peltier, Ottawa; Brian Boggetto, Shorewood; Dan Durbin, Streator; and Natalie Zaczek, Plainfield, will serve as house captains. Volunteers were to meet at St. Columba School in Ottawa at 7 a.m. for their assignments, and be at the homes starting at 8 a.m. Comments
