Mr. and Mrs. Jason (Valerie) Tucker

Surrounded by family and friends, Valerie Vlk and Jason Tucker were united in marriage on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009.

The couple exchanged vows at the First United Methodist Church in Morris during a ceremony officiated by Pastor Scott McClellan.

The bride is the daughter of Ken and Loreen Vlk, and the granddaughter of Charlotte Hildy, all of Morris.
The groom is the son of Jim and Marsha Tucker of Mazon.

Standing next to their best friends, Julie Walls was the maid of honor and Travis Trevino was the best man. They looked on as Jason and Valerie pledged their lives to one another.

Also standing up for the couple were bridesmaids Cara Johnson, Julie Brandt, Karen Linn and Katie Cox, all friends of the bride, and sister of the bride, Angela Robinson.

Longtime friends of the groom Adam Mellen, Scott Arnold, Paul Sparrow, Brandon Thetard and  Barry Sterba were groomsmen.

Seating the guests were ushers Dave Patten, friend of the groom, and Jerry Vlk, brother of the bride. Karedon Robinson, flower girl and niece of the bride; Nicholas Kilgore, ring bearer, nephew of the bride; James Robinson, hostess helper, nephew of the bride; Terry Walls, hostess and friend of the bride; and Ed Hildy, reader and Godfather of the bride, helped make the day a wonderful event.

A reception was held at the Dwight Country Mansion following the ceremony. Guests celebrated and danced the night away in the hall which was full of fall.

Pumpkins, hay bales, colorful leaves, hundreds of candles and towering centerpieces of hand-picked twigs and rustic flowers set the stage for a fun-filled night.  There wasn’t a caramel apple to be found at the end of the evening.

Valerie is the director of payroll for the Illinois Central companies, based in Mazon. Jason is a terminal operator for Kinder Morgan in Argo, Ill.

The Tuckers reside in Coal City.

Flowers were by Deb’s Floral Expressions in Coal City. Pictures were by Fond Memories in Plainfield.

Lincecum, Greinke win Cy Young awards

Zack Greinke justly won the American League Cy Young award earlier this week. I'm not so sure Tim Lincecum of San Francisco deserved his second straight win in the NL, which he received today.
