A DRIVER and two passengers were charged with liquor violations after a traffic stop near Dwight and Becker roads about 1:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

Adam Karstens, 21, 304 Andrew Drive, Dwight, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of liquor, delivery of liquor to minors, and improper lane usage. He posted $100 and his driver's license and was given a Nov. 23 court date.

Passenger Malissa Scapellato, 20, Homer Glen, was ticketed for illegal consumption and illegal transportation of liquor, while Ashley Carlson, 18, 111 Susan Drive, Dwight, was cited for illegal consumption of liquor. They were given Nov. 23 court dates.

Deputy Kenneth Unland reported he saw the driver of a Grand Prix  southbound on Dwight Road, going from the west shoulder, across the road to the east shoulder, then drive on the northbound side of the road for about one mile.

After stopping the car, the deputy reported he could see an open case of beer on the floor of the back seat. All three occupants admitted they had consumed liquor and Karstens said he purchased the beer for them.

Deputy Unland reported Karstens appeared intoxicated and failed three field sobriety tests. Charged with DUI, he was taken to the county jail, where he registered .145 on the Breathalyzer test.
