George E. Malfatti, Sr.

FAIRFIELD BAY, Ark. -- Mr. George Edward Malfatti, Sr., of Fairfield Bay, Ark., passed on to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Ozark Health Nursing Home in Clinton, Ark.

He was born in Edwardsville, Ill., on Nov. 25, 1921.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wedo and Gertrude Malfatti; brother, Emil of California; sister, Dorothy MacCarthy of Illinois; one grandson, Michael Malfatti of Colorado; and a great-granddaughter, Aleya Shrum.

He was married to Lois Nelson in 1953. The resided in Morris until 1985, and they then moved to Bartlett, Ill. In 1993, they retired and moved to Fairfield Bay, Ark.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Steve and Linda Malfatti of Colorado, George Malfatti, Jr., of Illinois, and John and Brenda of Arkansas; sisters, Rose Higginbotham and Mary Ann Knorr of Illinois; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nephew and nieces.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Corp of Engineers. He was a member of the American Legion and served as a Boy Scout Leader in Morris He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris and fellowshipped with Cornerstone Evangelical Church in Arkansas.

A private family memorial service was held in Fairfield Bay on Nov. 1, 2009.
