Prairie Singers bringing ‘Christmas Joy’

The Prairie Singers mark their 22nd Christmas season with a series of concerts in the local area.

This year’s concert theme is “Christmas Joy.”

The singers will present both secular and sacred pieces with many enjoyable arrangements of favorite Christmas songs.

The Singers begin their Christmas season Sunday, Nov. 22 with a concert in Morris in conjunction with Home for the Holidays. The concert will be held at 2 p.m. at Morris Community High School.

The Ottawa Reddick Mansion will host a tea and concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29.

Starved Rock Lodge will host this year’s dinner concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4. Tickets may be obtained by calling the Lodge at 815-220-7386 and ask for Edna. Ticket price is $37 for the dinner and concert.

The Coal City Public Library will feature the Prairie Singers at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 in the meeting hall of the library.

The Singers will also be performing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Seneca Public Library.

The Christmas concert series is free to the public, except for the dinner concert at Starved Rock Lodge, which is ticketed.

The Prairie Singers are a chamber ensemble comprised of singers from Grundy, La Salle, Livingston and Kendall counties. The group performs literature from a broad range of historical periods, along with a wide variety of show tunes, popular, and classical favorites.

The choral ensemble welcomes membership inquiries from interested singers.
