Costume contest brings out the characters
SENECA — Ellis Ace Hardware, Rental & RadioShack and Bellettini Foods hosted their annual Halloween Costume Contest in the parking lot of the Village Center shopping complex in Seneca. This free event for the Village of Seneca has been a yearly tradition for 30 years now. The two store owners served up more than 300 free hotdogs and soda to kids and adults dressed in their cutest and scariest costumes. The attendees were also treated to free safety flashers for the trick or treaters as well as a trick or treat bag. Prizes were given out to the winners in seven categories. The costume judging was done by the Seneca Fire Protection and Ambulance District who also handed out additional prizes to the winners. Two new categories were added this year as a fundraiser for the local “no kill” animal shelter in Seneca. Just Animals Shelter created a cutest and scariest pet category. The entries paid a $5 donation toward the shelter to enter the contest. A total of $45 was raised for the animal shelter.
