Mr. Thomas Roger Bellamy, 67, of Morris, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at the Morris Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Thomas was born in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Thomas was the loving husband of 48 years to Ginny (Champion) Bellamy; the father of sons, James Warren (Therese Marie) Bellamy and Charles Wesley (Benita Ann) Bellamy III; grandfather of Jacob James, Nicholas Robert and Samuel Thomas; brother to Allen Edward (Brenda Sue) Bellamy of Springfield, Mo; brother-in-law to Alan (Donna) Champion of Minneapolis, Minn.; brother in-law to Carrie (Kevin) Shiley of Rexburg, Ind.; and loved by many nieces, nephews, close friends and all who met him.

Tom was preceded in death by parents, Lillian Beatrice (Pierce) and Charles Wesley Bellamy. He was a 1960 graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was also a 1964 graduate of University of Missouri-Columbia.

Thomas retired as manager of JC Penney Co., working from 1964 to 1989. He retired from Ryder Logistics in 2005.

Tom loved gardening, bird watching, hiking, bicycling and canoeing. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons football, baseball and soccer games. He was a master storyteller.

He was a volunteer for Morris Area Garden Club; a volunteer for Grundy County Historical Society and EJ&E Caboose conductor-story teller.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Morris.

Inurnment service will be held in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Community Foundation of Grundy County or the Grundy County Historical Society.
