Charles H. Crumb Jr.

Mr. Charles H. "Ted" Crumb Jr., 78, of Morris, passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 6, 2009, at Morris Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center with his loving family by his side.

Born May 24, 1931, in Morris, he was the son of Charles H. and Florence (Zueschner) Crumb Sr. He was educated in Morris schools.

Ted served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater following World War II.

Ted married Mary Lee McCormick on Nov. 10, 1952, in Manchester, Tenn. He was employed with Diamond National, Sponge Cushion and Bowers & Siemons Chemical Co. He retired in 1989.

He was an avid league bowler at Echo Lanes and won the horseshoe pitching contest one year at the Grundy County Corn Festival.

Survivors include two daughters, Jan Edwards of Morris and Vickie Sue Rapp of Smithville, Tenn.; three sons, Charles H. Crumb III of Morris, Curtis (Chris) Crumb of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Keith E. (Wilma) Crumb of Morris; 19 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta "Dolly" Patterson of Gainesboro, Tenn., and Mary Jane (Clay) Rice of Celina, Tenn.; one brother, Henry Crumb Sr. of Morris; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Oct. 27, 2000; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at U.C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at U.C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Roy C. Backus will officiate.

Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
