Marseilles woman

airlifted from accident

La Salle County deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident at E. 22nd Road and N. 21st Road in Grand Rapids Township at 5:51 p.m. Monday.

Riyazh Nomani, 44, of Naperville, was heading east on N. 21st Road, swerving back and forth, before failing to stop at the intersection of E. 22nd Road. At the intersection, Nomani struck the driver’s side of a vehicle driven by Tammy Soto, 39, of Marseilles, who had started through the intersection after stopping.

Soto was airlifed from the scene by Life Star to Good Samaritan Hospital. Nomani refused medical treatment at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.

Vehicles collide in Manlius Township

La Salle County deputies were called to a two-vehicle accident at E. 29th and N, 30th roads in Manlius Township just before 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Tommy Lovett, 53, of Seneca, was southbound on E. 29th Road when he fell asleep and failed to stop at the stop sign. Lovett then struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Brian Patro, 42, of Toledo, Iowa.

No injuries were reported.

CHANNAHON

Michael J. Coleman, 47, of Shorewood, was arrested by Channahon police Wednesday, for DUI and DUI with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more.

MINOOKA

Angela D. Szewczuk, 36, of Minooka, was cited Tuesday, by Minooka police for operation of a vehicle with an expired registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was stopped at the intersection Misty Creek Drive and Ridge Road.

Stephanie Ledesma, 35, of Minooka, was cited by Minooka police on Tuesday, for operating an unisured motor vehicle. She was stopped at Ridge and McEvilly Roads.

Thomas L. Knutson, 64, of Channahon was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop by Minooka police around 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20. A Minooka officer observed a vehicle swaying while traveling south on Ridge Road. He stopped the vehicle and eventually arrested the driver, Knutson, for DUI. He also cited Knutson for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. After being processed, Knutson posted bond and was released.

After being stopped for speeding by Minooka police at 11:29 a.m. Saturday, Jacob R. Albers, 19, of Mendota, was also cited for driving while his license is suspended. Minooka police observed a vehicle speeding on Minooka Road. After making the traffic stop, they determined Albers’ license is suspended, so he was cited for both offenses. Albers was released after posting bond.

Mai Dang, 28, of Aurora, was cited by Minooka police Friday, Sept. 20, with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident following an incident on Ridge Road, west of Industrial Drive, in Minooka.

Randi L. Purcell, 29, of Channahon, was ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Minooka police stopped her on McEvilly Road, south of Wabena Avenue, on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Minooka police stopped Mark Castillo, 35, of Minooka for a traffic violation on Misty Creek Drive at 11:25 p.m. on Sept. 18. Castillo was subsequently arrested for driving with his license is suspended, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, and illegal transportation of alcohol. Castillo posted bond pending a court appearance.

Jilliam M. Wozniak, 36, of Carol Stream was cited by Minooka police for disobeying a traffic control device on Ridge Road, at Bob Blair Drive, on Sept. 7.

Lisa Becker Laturell, 49, of Joliet, was cited by Minooka police for operation of a vehicle with expired registration on Sept. 7. She was stopped on Ridge Road, at Grainger Way.

Jena L. Kern, 20, of Morris, was cited for driving without a license. She was stopped by Minooka police Sept. 7 on McLindon Road, at Misty Creek Drive.

Nicholas J. Bartak, 20, of Joliet, was ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle Sept. 8. Minooka police stopped him on Ridge Road, at Bob Blair Road.

Demetrios A. Yannos, 23, of Crest Hill, was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle Sept. 8. Minooka police stopped him at Ridge Road and Bob Blair Road.

David J. George, 53, of Joliet, was ticketed for operating an unisured motor vehicle Sept. 5. Minooka police stopped him on U.S. 6, at Waters Edge Drive. He was also ticketed for unlawful use of a wireless phone in a construction or school zone.

Trevor J. Mcdiffett, 21, of Channahon, was cited Sept. 5 for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Minooka police issued the ticket after at stop on Minooka Road.
