An institution of Mazon officially began to disappear Thursday as construction workers started the demolition of the Feed Bag, ripping a gaping hole in the restaurant.

Melvin Mack of Gardner and Mark Brayton of South Wilmington remove equipment from the kitchen before the demolition continued. “I got the worst of it - I got dishwasher juice on me,” Brayton joked.

Meanwhile, employees of Total Petroleum Service remove fuel pumps from the old Shell station and workers push through the debris covering the old parking lot.

By Thursday evening the entire building was reduced to rubble.
